Motor Tax on Imports
written by Jeff , November 21, 2008

Hi Chris,

Only cars registered after July 2008 have to be on the new motor tax system.

Cars first registered between February 2008 and July 2008 had the choice to go on the old or new system.

Any cars first registered before February 2008 will be on the original, engine size based system

Its a Disgrace that the car tax costs are in the top end are 12 times the price of taxing the same car in uk and north Ireland eg a 3litre thats imported here now cost 2000 euro a year while the same car in the uk cost around £200 Shame on the government and we drive on DEATH TRAP ROADS.......
